In April 2018

Five men and women who work in various occupations

gathered to form a dance team.

Average age of us was 51.4 years old (eldest 73 years old!)

and we were complete novices at dancing.

The unit name is

Team Sumukuri 50 (TSC50)

We dance Michael Jackson's

Smooth Criminal.

*Sumukuri is an abbreviation of Smooth Criminal.

◇ ◇ ◇

—— Purpose of unit formation ——

Courage, energy and challenge to people over 40!

One day I, Takuya Tsuda, had a random thought :

"Well, I don't feel good energy in our generation..."

I run a company that provides corporate training.

We conduct hundreds of training sessions per year

at companies and local governments nationwide.

While interacting with various people through

corporate training all over the country,

I hear the same words that come out of the mouths of people over 50.

That words were...
"retirement", "remaining time of life", "end of life planning"...

Despite the fact that the average life expectancy is

getting longer and longer,

and we may live to 100,

what words actually come out of people over 50?

Only words that are conscious of end of life!

"It is not good, not healthy."

I thought.

I wanted to tell something to people of our generation.

What did I want to tell?

Isn't there still more to come?

We are still young.

We can still do it!

I want to tell you that

I want to do something

I want to show it in action

What came to my mind was:

"Let's do it.

Let's dance Michael Jackson."

◇ ◇ ◇

For my generation,

Michael is a real superstar.

"I want to dance like him!"

Every one of you must have thought like this

at least once.

But Michael's dance is not that easy.

So most of us get older without trying,

keep missing an opportunity of challenge.

I was there, too.

Then I made up my mind to try copying his dance move.

With this determination,

"Sumukuri Project" began.

◇ ◇ ◇

I started to search members who join the project.

Beginner of dancing,

and age over 50...

*Now we accept members who are at 40s and dance amateur.

Recruiting members was not easy..
Because everyone hesitated to join

for the following reasons;

"It's embarrassing", "unreasonable", "no sense"

"It's risky", "I don't have time"...

But I kept trying and trying,

then some people empathized my vision and

joined the project.

That is "Team Sumukuri 50 (TSC50)".

◇ ◇ ◇

From now on, this project  will be

accelerate towards further goals.

The current target is

 pulling together 100 people

average age of 50s or older and

dance amateurs.

Let's dance Sumukuri!

you don't have to be able to dance

you don't have to dance

you don't have to be good
Just move your one finger, move your neck.

Sharing the same vision

I want to dance sumukuri with everyone

Dance♪ Dance♪ Dance♪

I can still dance

Spreading that feeling is

The purpose of #Team Sumukuri 50 (TSC50)"
